If you're anything like me, you have had your fair share of ideas for practicing gratitude such as lists, journals and sometimes that can be difficult or even boring to stick to.
It is always good to spice things up.
Studies have shown the lasting benefits of approaching our lives from a grateful perspective - we should all be practicing gratitude every day in some way.

1. Make Time To Volunteer
Volunteering connects us with other people, and it takes us out of our comfort zone. It also allows us to appreciate all that we have. Whether it is you choosing to help out with preparing meals at a local shelter or help a friend move house gifting your time is a valuable way to help others.
2. Perform An Act Of Kindness
Even the tiniest acts of kindness can cheer someone else's day, along with your own. Try to pay for someone else's coffee, picking up something someone else has dropped or holding the door open for someone. A small act of kindness goes a long way.
3. Take A Break From Social Media
Technology is a part of our everyday lives, but it has also been proven to increase our anxiety and stress. Commit to completely disconnecting from your phone once a week. Maybe try putting your phone on airplane mode every Sunday so you can unplug and spend the day with your family or friends.
4. Say, "thank you"
Go out of your way to say thank you to someone. Instead of just saying the words, make an effort to tell them you appreciated what they did and how it helped you. If you're feeling extra lovely, try writing a thank you note.
5. Create A Gratitude Collage
Imagine creating a gratitude journal or a vision board that makes you feel warm inside. Take pictures of friends or achievements and place this onto a board. This will represent all that you are grateful for.
6. Write Positive Reviews For A Small Business
Online reviews really can make or break a small business. We are all guilty of having an amazing experience with a small business and have never written a review or helped the business. Try going on google or yelp and write a nice review it is sure to put a smile on the owners face.
7. Make A Friend A Meal
We have all had a friend that went through a hard time; you couldn't figure out how to help them. I encourage you to drop off a meal for them. A good meal is an excellent way to someone's heart, so try and make them feel amazing by filling up their stomachs.
8. Pause Before You Eat
Take a few seconds before you eat and reflect on the fact that you have access to such nutritious and delicious food. Whether it is you saying grace or having a quiet moment of meditation, it is always an excellent way to improve your mood before eating.
9. Honour Something Bigger Than Yourself
We all know that we aren't the centre of the universe, but it is easy to forget that when we are feeling anxious or stressed. Spend time reflecting on the intricacies of the universe and the beauty of mother earth. Let go a little and breathe a sigh of relief.
